Came here to have lunch with my wife and kid. Burger was super tasty and cooked just right. My wife’s meal was the chicken and also very tasty as well. The kid had spaghetti with butter, she ate every last bit.

Great restaurant to enjoy with friends. I had the onion soup, delicious and the steak au poivre, perfectly cooked. We had a reservation so no need to wait. Excellent service.

Classic NYC French spot that delivers. I met a friend for dinner here and everything was amazing. We squeezed in without a reservation, but you will probably need one, especially if it’s more than 2 people. I was so wrapped up in the food, atmosphere, and conversation that I forgot to snap photos of the entrees, but the escargot and steak tartare were what I went there for anyway, so I kept my priorities straight. I can’t imagine anything being bad on the menu, but I also aim to find the best things anyway and the waiter’s opinion is usually spot on. The meal will be more expensive than other spots but this is an affordable nicer meal. If you only do one of these, try Balthazar.

The food was really really great, especially the profiteroles, the service was wonderful. I give four for the atmosphere just because it's very noisy. If you want to have a conversation, keep that in mind.

Balthazar is a very atmospheric place with a classic French charm. The interior is stylish and cozy, tastefully decorated. Service is great — the staff is attentive and friendly. Everything is well organized and professionally run. The ambiance is perfect for a nice evening out or catching up with friends. Definitely worth a visit if you want to experience a Parisian-style brasserie in New York.

Popped in for my birthday lunch. Marvelous swanky bustling atmosphere- exquisite old world ambience - very succulent tender escargots in garlic butter- a smart lamb sandwich- my friend had a very tender tasty chicken breast. Cheers to the Maitre’d on March 18 who came over to enquire how everything was going - and on learning I was celebrating my birthday offered us champagne....that was so darling- thank you!!!! Then for dessert we had a pear flan with pear sorbet - and creme brulee- my dessert appeared with the perfunctory single birthday candle! We had a marvelous experience- the service was quick and our server was especially attentive. Beautiful atmosphere for any occasion - from a quick bite solo - or the entire family!

An exceptional experience that rivals the best Parisian brasseries — Balthazar masterfully captures both the atmosphere and the flavors. The wine list is impressively extensive, and the French specialties, though slightly on the pricier side, justify it with near-gastronomic twists. The desserts, sourced from the bakery-pastry, are outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant in the heart of Soho.

We were in NY on vacation for nine days eating 2-3 meals out per day, so have lots to compare to. Balthazar was in our top two for food, atmosphere and service (the other was The Palm Court at The Plaza). Extremely attentive service in a restaurant with an incredibly cool NY vibe, outstanding food, unexpected complimentary champagne for the milestones we were there to celebrate, and very clean washrooms. I loved everything about our experience there and cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Delicious beef bourguignon!
